Is it safe to use household cleaners or detergents on my aircraft?

No. Household products can be caustic and may cause damage to aircraft exterior and interior surfaces.

How can I avoid damaging my windscreen and windows?

Never wash your windscreen or windows with household soaps, water, and wash brushes. Avoid using household window cleaners because they contain chemicals that can craze plastic transparencies.

Do aircraft really need to be polished and waxed?

Yes. Aircraft surfaces need regular protection and polishing. Like any painted surface, when exposed to UV, acid rain, bugs, etc., painted surfaces can become dull and oxidized without periodic polishing.

Are automotive products safe on my aircraft?

Automotive paint and aircraft paint are different. Products that are not made specifically for use on aircraft could have negative effects on aircraft surfaces.

How long will polish or wax last on my aircraft?

Longevity will depend on the number of flight hours, flying conditions, what cleaners are used, and whether the aircraft is hangered or not. Depending on those variables, a multi-polymer wax can protect for at least 3-6 months while waxes containing ceramic can protect for up to 12 months.

Can I apply polish to my aircraft after painting?

Yes. A good rule of thumb is to wait 30 days after painting since different paints cure at different rates.
